Odessa Family YMCA’s 2nd Annual “Pulling For Our Cause” Clay Shoot Fundraiser

Odessa, Texas/August 24, 2024-The Odessa Family YMCA is holding its 2nd Annual Pulling for Our Cause. The Glay Shoot Fundraiser is set for Friday, August 30th from 8am to 2pm at Jake’s Clays in Midland.

 The Odessa Family YMCA Glay Shoot Fundraiser will provide much needed funds for youth program scholarships and other program scholarships like child daycare.

Odessa Family YMCA Participates in the Jack LaLanne Jumping Jacks Challenge 2024

Odessa, Texas/July 15, 2024-On Friday, July 12th, the Odessa Family YMCA participated in a special event honoring Jack LaLanne known as the Godfather of Fitness and Nutrition and his wife 98 years of age, Elaine LaLanne in the World Record Jumping Jack Challenge.

Approximately 50 people participated in the World Record for Jumping Jacks event that included kids from the Odessa Family YMCA Day Camp, YMCA administrators and board members, Silver Seekers and members of the Odessa Family YMCA.

Phillips 66 Awards $115,000 to Odessa Family YMCA, Odessa College and Midland YMCA for Water Safety Programs

 

Odessa, Texas/June 9, 2024-Phillips 66 recently provided funds totaling $115,000 to the Odessa Family YMCA, Odessa College and the Midland Family for free swim lessons and water safety programs. Phillips 66 supports programs in the communities that they work and live in.

The Midland YMCA received $40,000 from the Pillips 66 $115,000 grant which will be used to springboard their Safety Around Water program, that is made available to all families of all ages. This program teaches families how to be safe around any body of water.

Odessa College received $25,000 from the $115,000 Phillips 66 grant to help with programs that would be difficult for the college to acquire funding for. The funding will allow free swim safety lessons for the community regardless of economic status.

The Odessa Family YMCA was awarded $50,000 that will go towards the new pool Phillips 66 program that will include: safety around water presentation and training. The program is planned to begin in Fall.

The Odessa Family YMCA is offering free swim lessons vouchers. Individuals must attend the hour and a half Safety Around Water class to be eligible for the swim lesson voucher.

Odessa Family YMCA Annual Healthy Kids Day 2024

Odessa, Texas/April 23, 2024-On Saturday, April 20th, despite the rainy weather, the Odessa Family YMCA held the annual Healthy Kids Day. Families and their children enjoyed games, and other fun activities.

Odessa Family YMCA Enjoys Successful Comedy Show Fundraiser

Odessa, Texas/April 22, 2024-The Odessa Family YMCA recently held “Giggles and Give” a comedy fundraiser event featuring Comedian Lucas Bohn at the Ector Theatre to raise money for programs the Y offers to the community at large.

The comedy fundraiser featured a silent auction with various prizes, that included weekend get-away prize packages.

The Odessa Family YMCA Giggles and Give Comedy show also featured singer/songwriter Robert Sullivan, who performed covers of 90’s Country songs as well as original tunes.

Representatives with the Odessa Family YMCA estimated that the Giggles and Give Comedy Show starring Lucas Bohn raised around $5 thousand dollars.

Judie Porras Celebrating Her Birthday with Family, Friends after Kidney Transplant Surgery

Odessa, Texas/July 3, 2024-Judie Porras, whose kidney was a perfect match for her husband Javier Aguirre who suffered from kidney failure, celebrated her birthday and a new view on life with family, friends and her colleagues at the Odessa Family YMCA. Judie’s mother praises the divine power for keeping her daughter safe during surgery and saving her son-in-law and giving Javier a new lease on life.

Judie’s Birthday is on March 14th, ironically on World Kidney Day celebrated a new life with her husband in fellowship with her closest family members.

Judie is a beloved exercise trainer at the Odessa Family YMCA. Many of her female clients are inspired by her courage and spirituality.
