Odessa, Texas/December 17, 2022-The Ector County ISD Police along with Odessa Student Crime Stoppers held their annual Blue Santa event. ECISD Police and Odessa Student Crime Stoppers go out into the Odessa community after the Thanksgiving holiday to raise funds and collect toys to provide Christmas to needy families in Odessa and Ector County.

ECISD Police and Odessa Student Crime Stoppers raised enough funds this year to provide a very Merry Christmas to 7 needy Families.

Odessa, Texas/August 26, 2022-According to a source, at approximately 3:15 pm an incident erupted during or close to Permian High School’s 8th period. PHS officials immediatley put the school into lockdown. The incident erupted near a classroom where several male students were involved. One who allegedly pulled out a gun.  

It is believed that the male subjects were in a dispute with some female students. It is believed that ECISD Police were dealing with the male subjects earlier in the day. 

The ECISD Police, Odessa Police and other agencies responded to the threat. 

It has been reported by a witness inside the school that an arrest was made. 

More information as it becomes available.

Odessa, Texas/June 22, 2022-The Ector County ISD Police along with local law enforcement agencies engaged in Solo Officer-Active Shooter Response Training at the Whitaker Building located on the west side of Odessa High School. Officers with the Odessa Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, The Medical Center Hospital Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue participated in the training.

Ector County ISD has been training in Active Shooter Response events at various ECISD campuses for 20 years.

Local law enforcement agencies along with the Odessa College Police Department, involved in the Solo Officer-Active Shooter Response training used simulated ammunition also known as simunitions, a non-lethal, non-toxic rounds that come in different caliburs.

Assistant ECISD Police Chief Jeff Daniels says that Odessa and Ector County Law Enforcement agencies are very well prepared and staying prepared every day in the event of an active shooter event in an Ector County ISD school
