Odessa, Texas/May 26, 2024-Discover Odessa celebrated the last day of National Travel and Tourism Week on Friday, May 24th at the Ector Theatre in downtown Odessa. Pop-up locations during the week included the White-Pool House, the replica of Stonehenge located at UTPB, the Ector County Coliseum and other historical locations around the city.

Moms brought their children and took a tour inside of the Historic Ector Theatre and were able to see the different areas of the stage.

Discover Odessa plans to make next year’s National Travel and Tourism Week much larger, with more pop-up locations and a grand finale event downtown.

Discover Odessa National Travel and Tourism Week

Odessa, Texas/May 21, 2024-Discover Odessa, staff and volunteers kicked off National Travel and Tourism Week at the White-Pool House located at 112 E. Murphy Steet, in the Southside of Odessa. Visitors to the historical museum enjoyed free donuts and coffee and other goodies.

West Texas Knockout Boxing Club Hosting West Texas Mega Show at the Ector County Coliseum

Odessa, Texas/September 10, 2023-Teresa Vasquez with the Odessa Chamber of Commerce/Discover Odessa announced a boxing event hosted by West Texas Knockout at the Ector County Coliseum. The two-day boxing event will feature two boxing rings, 100 matches and around 200 boxers.

Boxing Clubs from across the U.S. and Texas including Gorilla Heavy Hitters Boxing Club will be competing on Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th. Augie Tapia has put together The West Texas Mega Show to bring the entire community together for two days of exciting entertainment and boxing.

The West Texas Mega Show will feature boxers in all age groups and categories.

LULAC 2024 Convention In Odessa, Texas Announcement-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/October 3, 2022-The League of United Latin American Citizens recently announced that Odessa, Texas will be city to host the 2024 LULAC Convention. Representatives from the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Discover Odessa joined officials with the Texas State organization of LULAC for the announcement.

The 2024 LULAC Convention will also conduct seminars and workshops focusing on women empowerment and issues that are affecting women on a local and state level.

Odessa, Texas/July 27, 2022-During the regular scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioner’s the court considered engaging in a real estate broker contract with J.L. Herriage/doing business as Copper Key Realty in the possible sale of the Ector County Coliseum.

The Commissioner’s Court was informed by Copper Key Realty, about 7 to 8 weeks prior to the July 26th, regularly scheduled commissioner’s court meeting.

An offer between $25 to $30 million dollars to purchase the Ector County Coliseum was made, but was turned down by the commissioner’s Court.

The World-Famous Chuck Wagon Gang and several organizations that hold events at the coliseum for decades voiced their opposition to potential sale of the venue.

The Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Discover Odessa believe that private ownership of The Ector County Coliseum can have a negative impact on future events coming to Odessa.

The Ector County Commissioner’s voted 3 to 2 to approved a broker contract with Copper Key Realty, but there is a question if there is a contract already in place to sell the Coliseum.
