Odessa, Texas/July 4, 2022-The 4th of July Weekend kicked off with the much-awaited FIRECRACKER FANDANGO 2022. Vendors of all types offered a wide selection of items and foods, kids enjoyed events that included jumpers and games, and a petting zoo, as well as a car show and car show competition.

A large crowd gathered at the main stage as Tommy Tarango entertained visitors during the early evening hours followed by Texas Music Artist Rick Trevino.

The Odessa Southside Brotherhood, Motorcycle Club participated at the FIRECRACKER FANDANGO in support of a local business in downtown Odessa.

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing person.

Faith Ann Morgan, 16, was last seen on May 22, 2022, wearing a black spaghetti strap dress with a black and green swimsuit. Faith has green eyes, brown hair, and weighs approximately 150 lbs. to 160lbs., and is approximately 4’9″ to 5’2″ tall.

Anyone with information about where Faith may be can call the Midland County Sheriff’s Office at 432-688-4620.

Midland, Texas/June 30, 2022-UTPB’s College of Engineering is currently hosting the annual Engineering Camps. The camp is a way to get young students interested in engineering at an early age.

Engineering camp participants will take part in several hands-on experiments, throughout the week.

There are two engineering summer camps in progress, the UNITE engineering summer camp funded by the U.S. ARMY and the XTO summer camp funded by XTO ENERGY. The purpose of the both summer camps is to expose middle and high school students to the many facets of engineering.

Campers will receive a certificate of completion after fulfilling the require program, as well as creating a secondary pipeline called BRIDGE TO ENGINEERING.

Odessa, Texas/June 29, 2022-Odessa College held a special groundbreaking ceremony that began at the Odessa Marriott Hotel and Conference Center featuring commentary from college representatives, and Mayor Javier Joven. Odessa College will a major presence in downtown area beginning with Phase One with the development of a green space and an educational facility.

Plans to revitalize the Odessa Downtown area started about 20 years ago. The Odessa Marriott Hotel and Conference Center became the center piece and the start of the revitalization of downtown.

The Odessa College Phase One downtown development may be completed within 8th months. Additional fundraising is now underway.

Odessa, Texas/June 22, 2022-The Ector County ISD Police along with local law enforcement agencies engaged in Solo Officer-Active Shooter Response Training at the Whitaker Building located on the west side of Odessa High School. Officers with the Odessa Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, The Medical Center Hospital Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue participated in the training.

Ector County ISD has been training in Active Shooter Response events at various ECISD campuses for 20 years.

Local law enforcement agencies along with the Odessa College Police Department, involved in the Solo Officer-Active Shooter Response training used simulated ammunition also known as simunitions, a non-lethal, non-toxic rounds that come in different caliburs.

Assistant ECISD Police Chief Jeff Daniels says that Odessa and Ector County Law Enforcement agencies are very well prepared and staying prepared every day in the event of an active shooter event in an Ector County ISD school
