Odessa, Texas/November 13, 2023-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held their 33rd Annual Ebony Bar Awards at the MCM Grande Fundome in Odessa, Texas. Members of the BCCPB, invited guests, representatives from Odessa College, UT Permian Basin and supporting businesses attended the event. The Black Chamber Commerce featured a display of photographs by Steve Goff, a retired professor of Photography at Odessa College and the specialty artwork created by Brandon Norman.

This year’s Ebony Bar Awards celebrated educators who served students at Blackshear when it was a High School and as a Jr. High and Ector High School. Dr. James J. Bolton, Department Chair and Professor of PreHealth at Odessa College was the featured speaker.

Renee Earls, CEO and President of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce was honored with the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin President’s Award for her continued support of Black Chamber of Commerce businesses and her collaborative efforts with the BCCPB and the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the Get Out The Vote campagin.

Odessa, Texas/September 21, 2022-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual banquet at the Odessa Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. New board members, directors and new chairman were installed.

The goal of the new Odessa Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Board of Directors is to support those partnerships that enhance business, education and healthcare.

The Odessa Chamber of Commerce plan to form a committee of Hispanic business leaders to help them be more integrated within the local business community and be a major participant with the Greater Odessa Chamber of Commerce.

Covid-19, the economy and other issues have caused the stall of the revitalization of downtown. The new Chairman hopes that development of downtown will start up soon.

Dissolving Medical Center Hospital and creating a mega hospital in Midland and causing the elimination of healthcare in Odessa, is a concern to the Odessa Chamber of Commerce.
