Odessa, Texas/July 21, 2022-Sirena Watts, the outreach trauma prevention coordinator with Medical Center Hospital held a STOP THE BLEED training for the public and law enforcement. The purpose of the training is to educate those in attendance various techniques they can use to help someone who is injured and bleeding out.

Mikala Reznik who has family in the Uvalde area was moved to be more informed and more involved and so, she participated in the STOP THE BLEED training.

14-year-old, Drake Reznik who is a volunteer at Medical Center Hospital’s Junior Volunteer program took part in the STOP THE BLEED training to be prepared in the event of a crisis.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(071822)-ODESSA POLICE ACADEMY SESSION 24 PROFESSIONAL DRIVING

Odessa, Texas/July 18, 2022-The Odessa Police Academy Session 24 held their Professional Driving training at Ratliff Stadium. 5 OPA Recruits, 1 Odessa Fire-Rescue Recruit and 2 Midland County Sheriff’s Office recruits completed the week-long qualifying driving training.

Recruits endured a variety of intense driving scenarios, throughout the week.

It is important that recruits pass the Professional Driving training. Police Officers spend most of their entire day in their police vehicles. OPA recruits must complete and pass the required driving tasks to be able to advance to the next section of the Odessa Police Academy.

Odessa, Texas/July 17, 2022-On Sunday, July 17th officials with the West Texas Warbirds held a press conference at the Ector County Coliseum to respond to the fight that broke out between Dallas Prime and the West Texas Warbirds, Saturday night, July 16th at the end of the game. 

It is believed that the issues began with questionable calls by the referees and unsportsmanlike conduct by Dallas Prime.

Odessa, Texas/July 16, 2022-Starting Tuesday, July 19th, the Dixie Project between 44th Street and 52nd Street will have a traffic pattern change. 

Southbound traffic will be detoured to McKnight Drive, a message board will be placed at this location providing notices to motorist of the upcoming detour. 

During this phase of construction, there will be one lane of northbound traffic open to motorists

Odessa, Texas/July 16, 2022-The Black Chamber of Commerce Permian Basin held the 13th Annual ROBERT E. WILLIAMS SR. MEMORIAL TORNAMENT 2022 hosted by Sunset Golf and Country Club. Golfers from across the Permian Basin area including representatives from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin participated in the scholarship fundraising event.

In 2021 The ROBERT E. WILLIAMS SR. MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT raised close to $20 thousand dollars for scholarships. Graduating 2023 High School Seniors can apply for The Black Chamber of Commerce Permian Basin scholarship during the 2022-2023 school year.

Golfers attempted the HOLE IN ONE-NEW CAR at the 17th hole. Awards were be given to the 1st 2nd and the new last place award for HONESTY on the scorecard.

Midland, Texas/July 16, 2022-The Midland Soup Kitchen Ministries hosted the Midland County Sheriff’s Office Ice Cream and Popsicle Family Event. 

Children enjoyed tasty frozen treats and played in the jumpers and cooled off sliding down the water slide.
