A wide variety of musical entertainment from Anime Raves to Anime Karaoke, as well as Japanese Rock Star, Kuzhu performed Saturday night. Visitors interested in being part of the Anime community as a professional attended panel discussions with celebrity panelists.

Odessa, Texas/July 31, 2022-The Odessa Police Department and 0dessa Fire Rescue held a Back-to-School Block Party at the Southside Baseball field next to the Margarita Fair Grounds. The event featured games, jumpers and give-a-ways.

Odessa First Responder Agencies have block parties in the Spring and Summer to entertain children and families by showing off various assault vehicles and hardware used in fighting crime, fighting fires and saving lives. These events help bring local law enforcement agencies and First Responders, and the community together in a positive environment.

Midland, Texas/July 28, 2022-Approximately 300 new teachers to the Midland ISD School District are taking part in the New Teacher Academy. The academy is hosted by MISD funding provided by ESSER. The New Teacher Academy will include professional development and other topics to help students and teachers be successful in the classroom.

The 3-day comprehensive orientation will feature a variety of activities and training to give teachers the tools they need to succeed once school starts.

The starting salary for a new teacher at MISD is close to $60 thousand per year. Various incentives are available through the State of Texas and through MISD to help teacher grown in their profession and earn higher salaries.

Odessa, Texas/July 27, 2022-During the regular scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioner’s the court considered engaging in a real estate broker contract with J.L. Herriage/doing business as Copper Key Realty in the possible sale of the Ector County Coliseum.

The Commissioner’s Court was informed by Copper Key Realty, about 7 to 8 weeks prior to the July 26th, regularly scheduled commissioner’s court meeting.

An offer between $25 to $30 million dollars to purchase the Ector County Coliseum was made, but was turned down by the commissioner’s Court.

The World-Famous Chuck Wagon Gang and several organizations that hold events at the coliseum for decades voiced their opposition to potential sale of the venue.

The Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Discover Odessa believe that private ownership of The Ector County Coliseum can have a negative impact on future events coming to Odessa.

The Ector County Commissioner’s voted 3 to 2 to approved a broker contract with Copper Key Realty, but there is a question if there is a contract already in place to sell the Coliseum.

Odessa, Texas/July 23, 2022-On Saturday, July 23rd, vendors and food trucks came out to the vendor’s market at 3017 Mercedes in West Odessa. Small home business owners sold a wide variety of items from clothing, Jewelry, custom printed cups, salsa, art and lots more.

In an effort to attract the public to West Odessa, residents will also have information available to them through the Vendor’s Market on the various venues in the area, that are available to rent for different events.

Many of the vendors at the Vendor’s Market are home startup businesses. These vendors create specialty items on a small scale and at a reasonable price.

Visitors to the Vendor’s Market stopped at the snow cone stand and enjoyed snow cones in a wide variety of flavors.

Midland, Texas/July 22, 2022-The 2022 Texas Gubernatorial Democratic Nominee, Beto O’Rourke made a campaign stop at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Midland on Wednesday evening, July 20th. A large crowd came out to the center to support BETO and listen to his plans for Texas.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, known as ERCOT has residents of Texas concerned with the reliability of the power grid during record breaking heat and with extreme cold weather. Once elected, Beto O’Rourke plans to connect to the national grid.

Beto wants to work with state legislators, both Democrats and Republicans and use executive actions to focus on protecting the rights of women.

Beto O’Rourke said that Governor Abbot’s decision to sign permit less carry into law is causing crime to rise and an increase in violent crimes in cities, towns and municipalities.

Brock McNeel, a 16-year-old Beto supporter is concerned with laws being passed by State Legislators that oppress people in the State of Texas.
