DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(061422)MAJOR WATER MAIN BREAK IN NORTH ODESSA

Odessa, Texas/June 14, 2022-On Monday, June 13th, at approximately 6pm, the City of Odessa experienced a major water line break on 42nd Street and San Jacinto. Crews began working from the afternoon hours and through the night to close valves within the system to isolate the break.

The water was turned off at the water plant and an emergency declaration would be declared and signed by the Ector County Judge Debbie Hays.

Despite the water main break, Odessa Fire Rescue had the necessary resources available in case of a fire; in addition, Midland County Emergency Management provided a tanker containing 6000 gallons of water to Odessa Fire Rescue. 

The Odessa Police Department continued to provide police service to residents of the city. Only non-essential personnel were dismissed for the day.

Odessa Fire Rescue, Officers with OPD, Mayor Javier Joven, Councilman District 1, Mark Matta, Councilmember at Large, Denise Swanner and volunteers handed out a case of bottled water to residents at the Ector County Coliseum, Mckinney Park and at Far West in West Odessa in Ector County.

At 4pm at the Command Center at the Ector County Coliseum a press conference was held with city officials to update the progress of the repairs of the water main break.
