Odessa, Texas/January 14, 2022-On Friday, January 14, 2022, an Ector County jury found COURTNEY CHELLE RICE, GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER. She was sentenced to twenty (20) years in prison. The attorneys for the State of Texas were Elizabeth Howard and Kortney Williams. The presiding judge was Honorable Denn Whalen, in the 70th District Court.
On April 2, 2019, Ms. Rice, 35, shot Jose Hernandez while he slept. Ms. Rice was indicted on August 19, 2019 for First Degree Murder. Ms. Rice was represented by Attorney Michael McLeaish
